Coldplay: Concert marathon in Munich has begun

The British band around singer Chris Martin will perform at the Munich Olympic Stadium on Thursday. She gives a total of three concerts – two on the weekend. At the start, countless fans gathered on the Olympiaberg in the best weather.

The first of three Coldplay concerts in the Olympic Stadium came to an end with a huge turnout of fans. According to the organizer, the three shows on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday have long been sold out. That’s why numerous fans used it at the start – recently internationally known – Option to watch the concert with a picnic blanket on the Olympiaberg. Even before the concert began, there was hardly a free spot to be found on the lawn.

This didn’t go unnoticed by the band: you thanked the online platform X with a picture of the full mountain and wrote: “Thanks for the nice daydream.”

Start of the concert in the best summer weather

The weather cooperates, at least on the first day of the concert. The opening acts Wilhelmine and Maggie Rogers went on stage in temperatures around 26 degrees. Coldplay’s performance started just in time for sunset. The fans know that sustainability is important to the band. And Coldplay stayed true to these values: right at the beginning there was information – among other things, about the fact that deposit cups protect the environment – and that even before the first song, “Higher Power”.

The X-page of the Munich Olympic Park also published a recording of it. A light show can be seen in the Olympic Stadium in the evening atmosphere to accompany the song.

Song message to other megastar

The band didn’t just play their own hits at the concert. They greeted another megastar with a song: Adele. She is currently in Munich for a whole series of concerts. Yesterday, Adele said during her performance that she would actually have liked to go on stage that Thursday. But because Coldplay had already planned the date, they decided not to – for “the best band in the world”.

As a thank you for the waiver, Coldplay sang Adele’s hit “Someone Like You” at the opening concert in Munich.

Appearance of a surprise guest

And it wasn’t just a greeting to another star. Someone else also came on stage: Coldplay had the Canadian pop singer Shawn Mendes with them as a surprise act. The band sang “Fix You” with him.

Band increases anticipation on social media

And the band also communicated with the fans hours before the performance. “Hello” – that’s how Coldplay began a post on the online platform X. It’s an honor to be back in Munich, they say. The fact that Coldplay is allowed to play in the Olympic Stadium this time makes them very happy. The band, it says in the posting, is looking forward to the three shows in beautiful Bavaria.

Nice – that was the weather on Thursday too. Fans in and outside the stadium were able to fully concentrate on the concert. According to the forecast, there could be thunderstorms on Saturday, and there will also be significantly lower temperatures on Sunday.

The concert divided into four acts

After ACDC and Taylor Swift, Coldplay is the next in line for major concerts in the Olympic Stadium – as real stadium band Coldplay is of course made for the historical backdrop. Their concert is divided into four “acts”: “Planets”, “Moons”, “Stars” and “Home”. These contain songs from the band’s entire repertoire, from previous works such as “Yellow” to the current single
