Season 21 of “Grey’s Anatomy” is a surprise package. Not only are there some departures. It was also announced that Ellen Pompeo would be taking on a larger role again. Now a rather surprising return has also been confirmed…
In season 21 of “Grey’s Anatomy“Fans can expect some changes. Ellen Pompeo, who as Dr. Meredith Gray, the flagship of the popular medical series, received a big farewell in season 19. But she never really left the series. In the new season, she will take on a significantly larger role again and be part of the permanent cast.
While Jake Borelli (who played Levi) and Midori Francis (the role that Mika took over) will leave the series Scott Speedman be back in the game as Nick. But the biggest surprise came exclusively via Deadline revealed: In season 21, after 17 (!) years, Dr. Sydney Heron (Kali Rocha) came.
Rocha will appear in three episodes here, once again appearing on Bailey (Chandra Wilson) meet. Recall: Sydney Heron was first introduced in episode 15 of season two. As an assistant doctor at the time, she represented her colleague Bailey in supervising the interns. Afterwards, Rocha appeared in Season 4 for two extended episodes in 2007. In season 21 we find out what’s behind her almost two-decade absence.
Fans have taken Sydney Heron to their hearts, but this character was also a bit irritating. The young doctor is characterized by unbridled optimism and follows the motto: “Heal with love”. This philosophy is the result of a nervous breakdown Sydney suffered because one of her patients died. She also had a date with McDreamy aka Derek (Patrick Dempsey). However, they quickly realized that they were not compatible.
In the United States, season 21 premieres on September 26, 2024 on ABC. There is no German launch yet. However, one can assume that the new episodes will appear first on Disney+ in this country. Another series highlight starts on the Maushaus streaming service on September 19th – namely “Agatha All Along“. You can watch the trailer here:
